- Hari baik untuk ayam ditentukan oleh warna bulu dan perhitungan lainnya yang dipercaya.
- Cara melepaskan ayam untuk bertanding harus pas dengan ayam itu sendiri. Ada ayam yang cocok untuk dilepas sebelum bertanding dengan cara di dorong, ada yang harus dilepas dengan jarak yang cukup jauh dan sebagainya.
- Perawatan ayam disamakan dengan teknik bertarung dari ayam tersebut. Pemberian perawatan yang bagus akan menghasilkan ayam yang kuat dan hebat dalam sebuah pertandingan sabung ayam.
- Untuk pembuatan pisau taji sendiri umumnya dilakukan oleh seorang pengrajin taji yang sudah profesional dalam bidangnya. Pisau taji yang bagus merupakan pisau taji unggulan yang biasa digunakan pada pertandingan sabung ayam taji profesional.
- Penggunaan logam untuk pisau taji juga disesuaikan dengan bentuk pisau taji dan permintaan dari pelanggan.
